Methodology
From IP之道 to Our Working Method
IP之道 / The Way of IP
IP之道 (IP Zhi Dao) is a book written by Peter Lin that documents a structured approach to China IP decisions — how foreign businesses should think about patent timing, filing architecture, enforcement trade-offs, and the relationships between different IP instruments.
The methodology in that book is not separate from how we work. It reflects the same thinking Peter applies to client cases: start with the business situation, understand the constraints, then identify the appropriate filing action — rather than defaulting to a product menu.
This is why our work tends to be more structured than a typical agency referral. We are not matching clients to services. We are working through a China IP problem with them, using a method built from real experience.
Our Core Working Structure
We do not use vague agency language or hidden handoffs. Here is how the work is actually structured — each role is defined and independently verifiable.
Peter Lin
Founder & Principal
Strategy, client communication, and matter coordination. You work directly with Peter — not through a sales layer or account management queue.
China IP Gateway
International Interface
The English-language brand through which international clients engage — contact, scoping, content, and communication entry point.
OpenPTO Hong Kong
Registered Entity
The formally registered entity in client agreements and cross-border operations. Verifiable through the Hong Kong Companies Registry.
Zhiquan (智圈)
China-Side Licensed Agency
The licensed IP agency handling regulated filing and prosecution before CNIPA. Verifiable through official Chinese government channels.
